Tuning rings are an essential part of every oboist's equipment. When the socket or S-bow is pulled out to lower the fundamental pitch, a hollow space forms. Condensation collects in this space, air turbulence occurs, and intonation suffers. Tuning rings compensate for this gap, ensuring a clear response and stable intonation.
